Portrait Photographers

 Annie Leibovitz

1. List 3 people she has worked with.

Barack Obama, Yoko Ono, and Mick Jagger

2. Her most famous work was from which period?

Her most famous work is a portrait of Lennon and Yoko Ono that was published on the cover of Rolling Stone in January 1981.

3. Include one image she has taken - not from this site or the article - and tell me why you like it as well as the type of balance is used in the image.

I like this image because of it being in black and white. It feels like a serious image and the swan also makes it better. The balance that is used is asymmetrical balance.

Gordon Parks

1. What won him widespread acclaim and a position as the first African American staff photographer for Life?

His photo essay on the life of a Harlem gang leader in 1948

2. List 2 other things Parks did besides photography.

Filmmaking and musical composition.

3. Include one image he has take from one of his archive collections - and tell me why you like it.

I liked this image also because of it being in black and white. It also gives off the same serious vibe like the previous image, and I also find it interesting that this person in the image may have played a role in helping Parks win the widespread acclaim. Since this person is the leader of the gang that he made a photoessay on.
